Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why is it offered?

For years many home sellers have been wanting something different than most agents have been offering them. They want to become more involved and do things like show their own property, conduct open houses, etc. In terms of exposure we're identical to whoever you would like to compare us with. We'll list your property on an MLS® system just like all the rest.

2. What if a buyer has their own agent? Do I have to pay them?

The amount of cooperation you receive from REALTORS® will depend, in part, on the amount of buyer’s agent commission you offer. Obviously if you choose not to pay a buyer’s agent commission, REALTORS® will not bring their buyers to your home and you will be relying on unrepresented buyers only.

3. Other agents have told me that if I list with you, agents from other companies will not show my house because they don't get the same amount of money. Would an agent boycott my listing?

The fact is that your listing would be on an MLS® system like all other agent listings. If someone is looking for a home in your neighbourhood, in your price range, they are going to know it is for sale. That buyer is going to look at whatever is on the market before they make their decision. Also, boycotting listings is a serious offense.

4. Should I be nervous about showing my own property?

Not at all, you know your property best.

5. What about open houses?

You are welcome to hold your own open houses. We’ll advertise them for you in the general description of your listing.

6. Are there others offering Mere Post Listings? I'm nervous about the concept.

Yes, absolutely. Even though Don started offering Mere Post Listings in 2010, other companies also offer it.

7. How can you offer Mere Post Listings? What's the catch?

There is no catch. We're simply offering the choice of services consumers deserve.

8. When do I pay and how?

You pay right after your property is listed at Realtor.ca. Currently, you can pay by cheque or Interac e-Transfer.
